About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to perform medical assessments for U.S. Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This non-treating role involves conducting comprehensive eye exams, including Visual Field Testing (VFT) , reviewing electronic medical records, and accurately documenting exam findings using a secure web portal.
Key responsibilities: Conduct in-person disability assessments , analyze medical records, perform thorough eye exams, and complete VA forms. The role does not include treatment or medication prescriptions, as disability determinations are made by the VA.
Position details: Part-time, in-person, with a caseload of 4-6 Veterans daily, providing equipment such as a computer and documentation tools.
Qualifications and skills: Hold an active & unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license , proficient in Visual Field Testing , comfortable with technology, and possess strong analytical, time management, and empathetic interaction skills.
