Operating Room Nurse

About This Role

Operating Room Nurses at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington provide nursing care to patients undergoing operative or invasive procedures. The role involves guiding non-licensed personnel and caring for adult and geriatric patients, with some pediatric cases. This position is suited for a nurse with previous OR experience, particularly in orthopedic and spine care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing activities related to the care of patients experiencing operative or other invasive procedures under the direct supervision of the Operating Room Coordinator and OR Director
• Serve as a resource person and provide guidance to non-licensed personnel
• Care for adult patients, including older adults through geriatric, and some pediatric patients
• Apply age-specific competency standards as related to criteria-based performance evaluation

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current Texas Nursing License
• Current CPR, ACLS
• Minimum of two (2) years of previous OR experience, hospital setting preferred
• Ortho and spine experience required
• Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
• Ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
• Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to operating room nursing
• Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the developmental needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
