Position Summary
The University of New Mexico, Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking a certified Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen and Obstetrics and Gynecology, to serve as an Assistant Ultrasound Director. This faculty will work closely with ultrasound fellowship-trained Emergency Medicine physicians to teach point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to medical students, residents, fellows, and attending physicians. This faculty will also support a strong community-engaged teaching and research program.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has 86 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is home to an outstanding Emergency Medicine Residency, EMS Academy, and Center for Disaster Medicine. UNM Health System is New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, UNM Children’s Hospital, home to the only Burn Center, and the state's first Comprehensive Stroke Center. UNM Health System providers specialize in over 150 areas and receive 900,000 outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases, and 100,000 emergency room visits each year. UNM prides itself on being an engaged partner to the many communities it serves and takes great pride in and accepts the responsibility that comes with that commitment. The School of Medicine (SOM), created in 1964, is celebrated for its research discoveries and innovations in medical education and has earned a reputation for prioritizing diversity in the physician and health professions workforce. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree
- RDMS certified in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound
- Previous supervisory experience
- Ability to work autonomously and problem solve
- Ability to develop self-confidence in teaching physicians.
- Willingness to work with a variety of computer software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- RDCS certification in one or more of the following: Adult Echocardiography (AE), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE)
- RVT certification in Vascular Technology (VT)
- ARDMS certification as Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
- Experience with Cerner
- Experience with Smartsheet
- Experience with Office Outlook, Excel, SharePoint (Microsoft 365)
