About This Role
This online English tutor or teacher role involves providing one-on-one instruction to a diverse range of students of all ages, helping them achieve their English language goals for study, work, communication, overseas study, immigration, or living in English-speaking countries. The position offers flexible working hours and the opportunity to teach various programs based on student needs and the tutor's expertise.
Responsibilities
- Teach English online in a 1:1 format to students of all ages and proficiency levels
- Deliver content tailored to specific programs, levels, and student objectives
- Teach Basic/Advanced Communicative English
- Provide Foundational English instruction for beginners, focusing on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and basic skills
- Conduct Comprehensive English development for students with existing foundations, aiming to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, and enhance English usage in academic, professional, and daily life
- Teach English for primary, secondary, and high school students, reinforcing classroom knowledge, assisting with homework, and preparing for exams
- Prepare students for advanced studies, gifted student exams, transitional exams, high school graduation exams, and other specific tests
- Provide test preparation for IELTS (targets below 3.5 to 6.5+), TOEIC (targets below 450 to 700+), SAT (targets below 1000 to 1200+), VSTEP (B1 target), and Cambridge (Starters, Movers, Flyers)
- Monitor and evaluate student learning progress and improvement
- Provide feedback and support to students to enhance learning outcomes after each session
- Submit concise reports on student learning status when requested
Requirements
- Good English language expertise
- Ability to communicate and convey knowledge clearly
- Patience, responsibility, and a supportive attitude towards students
- No teaching experience required; prior tutoring or online teaching experience is an advantage
- Computer, webcam, microphone, stable internet connection, and a quiet teaching space
Nice to have:
- For IELTS classes with targets from 3.5 to below 6.5: IELTS certificate of 6.5 or higher
- For IELTS classes with targets of 6.5 or higher: IELTS certificate of 7.0 or higher
- For TOEIC: TOEIC certificate of 850 points or higher
- For SAT: SAT certificate of 1300/1600 points or higher; or a distinction degree in Education, English Language, Mathematics, or Sociology
- For VSTEP: VSTEP certificate of B1 or higher; or a distinction degree in English Language Education/English Language
