Role Overview Provides direct patient care in a specialized ICU setting, focusing on critically ill oncology, bone marrow transplant, and surgical patients.
Participates in patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation according to nursing standards.
Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to develop and communicate individualized care plans, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
Educates patients and families on managing illnesses, post-treatment care, and medication administration.
Engages in professional development activities, including certifications like CCRN, OCN, and BMTNC, and participates in programs such as the Nursing Resident Program and Career Ladder.
Supports a healing environment by promoting patient-centered care and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum education: Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Licensure: Valid RN license.
- Experience: New graduates accepted; 2+ years preferred for advanced roles.
- Preferred: Oncology, Surgical, or ICU bedside experience.
- Skills: Critical nursing skills, teamwork, communication, and patient education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional patient needs.
- Develop and document individualized care plans with clear goals.
- Ensure effective communication across care teams and with patients/families.
- Participate in safety initiatives, quality improvement, and professional growth activities.
