Role Overview: The staff nurse provides patient care in a community medicine setting, utilizing the nursing process to ensure high-quality, safe, and effective care with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and collect data using EMR tools and forms.
- Assess and reassess pain, educate patients and families on pain management.
- Deliver age-appropriate care and document procedures accurately in EMR.
- Administer medications safely, monitor for adverse effects, and stay current on medication knowledge.
- Understand EKG or cardiac tracing and assist with procedures requiring technical skills.
- Prioritize patient care based on needs and available resources, communicating effectively with providers about any changes in patient status.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current New York State Professional Nursing Registration.
- BLS Certification.
