About the role

Our client, a leading global FMCG organisation based in Rotterdam, is looking for an experienced Ocean & Air Procurement Lead (hybrid, 40 hours).

Offer

  • Temporary Phase A agency contract (CLA ABU) via Grafton with possible extension
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration of the assignment: 31 March 2027
  • Salary depending on experience: between € 4.500€ 5.300 gross per month based on 40 hours; since it is a weekly payment this will be € 25,96-€ 30,58
  • Other benefits: 8 % holiday allowance, 5% for ADV days, € 2,45 work-from-home allowance; 30 vacation days annually (based on fulltime), pension scheme based on Stipp Basis regulation(23.4% (15.9% employer, 7.5% employee), travel allowance based on 2nd class OV

What You'll Do

This role exists ensure operational excellence across ocean and air procurement portfolios, enabling strategic, sustainable, and digitally enabled supplier management . By coordinating tenders, driving cost and sustainability initiatives, and leading contracting and commercial processes, you will help strengthen our global supply chain resilience and efficiency .

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end ocean and air tender activities across monthly and annual cycles.
  • Manage a dedicated portfolio of supplier relationships across assigned regions.
  • Implement and execute the Procurement Strategy in alignment with global and regional priorities.
  • Drive procurement compliance while advancing the digital procurement agenda.
  • Lead the contracting process, contract management, and commercial escalation resolutions for assigned portfolios.
  • Build and maintain a centralized knowledge database for the full procurement portfolio.
  • Lead cross‑regional procurement projects and activities as assigned by the manager.
  • Identify and deliver cost‑optimization initiatives, including benchmarking and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives covering alternative fuels, emissions reduction, and energy‑efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve the 3Cs (cost, cash, and carbon).
  • Support business allocation decisions and assist procurement managers in large‑scale negotiations.
  • Act as regional portfolio lead for responsible sourcing, performance management, continuous improvement, resilience, segmentation, contractual models, and 3PL negotiation strategies.

Your profile

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Ocean, Air, Transportation, or Logistics (5 years preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Solid operational computer skills (MS Office suite).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with SAP.
  • Knowledge of tendering platforms (Coupa preferred).
  • Additional language proficiency.
