Position Summary
The Lead Occupational Therapist provides clinical leadership while maintaining an active patient caseload. This role partners with department leadership to support staff development, ensure high-quality patient care, improve operational efficiency, and foster a culture of teamwork and excellence.
The ideal candidate is a skilled clinician, strong communicator, and collaborative leader who is passionate about mentoring others and advancing rehabilitation services.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
Lead and support the delivery of high-quality occupational therapy services.
Ensure adherence to organizational policies, therapy standards, and evidence-based practice.
Serve as a clinical resource for occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and interdisciplinary team members.
Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and developing rehabilitation staff.
Patient Care
Evaluate and treat patients experiencing functional limitations due to injury, illness, surgery, or neurological conditions.
Manage complex patient cases and provide clinical consultation when needed.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on maximizing patient independence and outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and rehabilitation professionals to coordinate care.
Team Development & Operations
Monitor and support staff performance and professional growth.
Help coordinate daily workflow, scheduling, and patient care activities.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and departmental projects.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and patient-first culture throughout the therapy department.
Support operational efficiency and productivity goals.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
Current Occupational Therapist licensure.
Current BLS/CPR Certification.
Minimum of one (1) year of occupational therapy clinical experience.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Previous leadership, mentoring, charge therapist, or supervisory experience.
Experience in outpatient rehabilitation, hospital-based therapy, or multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
