Nutritionist (CYS Services) NF-04

Duties

Oversee, plan, implement, and supervise Army-wide food and nutrition program that follows the policies and procedures of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) in a variety of settings with a wide age span of children/youth (birth - 18 years of age) to include food service menu planning, nutrition education, food procurement, meal production, and kitchen safety/sanitation procedures. Develops guidance on infant feeding plans and child/youth allergies/substitutions. Provides expertise to other CYS Program Managers in implementing nutrition education into the child/youth curriculum. Creates standardized systems to maintain accountability for food and other food program assets. Serves as a consultant to Army Higher Headquarters Inspection Team to ensure compliance with appropriate and program regulatory requirements and CYS baseline standards. Trains IMCOM, Region, and Garrison staff on topics concerning proper child/youth nutrition. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by The American Dietetic Association that was conducted as part of the undergraduate program, or after completion of the basic requirements for a baccalaureate
degree (Transcripts MUST be uploaded at time of announcement).

In addition to the above, qualified candidates will possess:

1. Progressive experience in food service administration leading to management of a comprehensive nutrition program.
2. Demonstrated familiarity with the requirements of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program.
3. Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and
   recognize solutions.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, such as developing and delivering formal written and oral
   presentations.
5. Demonstrated ability to evaluate program effectiveness and compliance with benchmark criteria and applicable policies and
   procedures.
6. Experience planning and conducting training for adults.

Best Qualified: Management of a food service program specifically for children and youth (such as school dietitian, USDA CACFP staff, Army CYS Services Food and Nutrition Specialist, etc); experience working at the region or HQ level; registered dietician.
