About This Job The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the Veterans' population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to perform routine sub-professional nursing duties in the care and comfort of our Veteran patients, as well as measure temperatures, pulses, respirations, blood pressures, heights/weights, and record them in patients' medical records. Minimum Qualifications Six months of experience or training in patient care; OR
Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate; OR
Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.
Note: Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

In This Role, You Will Also:
- Direct and assist in providing patient care, including ambulating, bathing, positioning, lifting, and dressing.
- Direct and assist in the feeding of patients. Monitor and document patients' eating patterns.
- Clean rooms, make and change bed linen.
- Distribute clean linens, wash, dry, sort, fold, and store patients’ clothing.
- Measure temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, intake, and output, and record in the patient’s medical record.
- Observe the patient’s condition and report any changes to the charge nurse.
- Provide care to patients with infectious diseases, as needed.
Position-Specific Details: Location: Nursing Department of the Northeast LA Veterans Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
Appointment Type: Probational or Job Appointment
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Nursing Assistant 1 or 2 (CNA 1 or 2)
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts. Work may involve shift work.
Compensation: This position offers hourly premium pay and shift differentials, with additional rates based on the shift worked per applicable pay policies. The Special Entrance Rate for this position is as follows:
Nursing Assistant 1 - $13.74/hr
Nursing Assistant 2 - $14.70/hr
