About the role

Job Title: Nurse Supervisor

Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 35 Hours per Week | Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Supervisor to provide clinical leadership, oversee nursing operations, and support the delivery of high-quality patient care in a healthcare setting. The Nurse Supervisor will collaborate with nurse managers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with clinical standards, improve patient outcomes, and promote staff development and performance excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement programs designed to enhance patient care quality and employee performance.
  • Monitor nursing and patient care performance across assigned departments and clinical units.
  • Collaborate with nurse managers to assess operational needs and implement corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain systems for tracking and documenting medication errors, counseling activities, and other quality-related metrics.
  • Assist in evaluating nursing practices and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to nursing staff and supervisors.
  • Participate in staff education, performance evaluations, and competency assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that supports patient safety, staff engagement, and professional growth.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program.

Preferred Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare field.

Experience

  • Minimum seven (7) years of nursing experience required.
  • At least five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Minimum two (2) years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required.
  • Previous experience in nursing leadership, operations, or management strongly preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and patient safety initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to analyze clinical performance data and implement effective action plans.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
