About This Role

This role involves providing primary medical care services to patients in a community health center setting, specializing in well-woman, family planning, and maternity care. The position suits a Certified Nurse Midwife dedicated to serving underserved and diverse communities as part of a collaborative care team.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary well-woman, family planning, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care services to patients in accordance with training, experience, and licensure
• Consult with an appropriate physician (family practice, OB/GYN, pediatrics, or other specialist) as needed when patient care needs arise outside the scope of training
• Provide appropriate hospital care as required
• Refer patients to medical specialists or other sources of service when necessary
• Prescribe and/or dispense required medication to patients according to individual prescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board
• Provide professional supervision to assigned staff of nurses and other paraprofessionals
• Participate in preventive health programs such as immunization, disease detection, and disease prevention activities, including education programs for patients and community groups in the service area
• Work closely with administrative personnel, including the Clinical and Medical Director, preparing reports, grant proposals, and other administrative activities when appropriate
• Initiate defined processes for high-risk antepartum and intrapartum conditions according to community standards

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited training program or an acceptable equivalent
• Board Certified with appropriate Nursing Specialty Board
• Washington State license to practice medicine
• Minimum of 2 years of experience
