About the role
Duties
- Assists in training of staff, providers, volunteers and/or parents on health related topics such as hand washing, diaper changing, blood borne pathogens, administering medications, contagious diseases, daily health screening of children and youth, first aid/CPR, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Tummy Time.
- Works cooperatively with CYS Services program managers in the implementation of health and fitness programs.
- Coordinates with the Food Service Program Manager on infant feeding plans and special diets as required.
- Provides parental support services and education opportunities.
- Participates in parent conferences and serves as a resource/consultant to the Parent Board.
- Serves as the primary liaison between CYS Services and the installation Community Health Nurse.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will possess all of the following:
- a Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program, AND
- an active, current registration as a professional nurse (RN) in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
AND
- have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level (NF-03 or GS-07), OR
- have two full years of progressively higher level graduate education or a master's or equivalent degree in the field of nursing.
HIGHLY PREFERRED are those candidates that possess both the minimum qualifications above and:
- have experience in pediatric nursing and/or working with children/youth with special needs.
