About the role
Role Overview: The Nuclear Medicine technologist provides safe, age-appropriate patient care by performing diagnostic exams according to department protocols. They independently operate imaging equipment, set up procedures, and position patients for optimal results.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify clinician orders, obtain clinical histories, and assess contraindications.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Review images for quality, ensure proper patient identification, and release studies.
- Respond to emergencies, maintain equipment, and adhere to infection control standards.
- Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety.
- Assist in training departmental staff and participate in quality control and documentation.
- Transport and position patients, restock supplies, and perform clerical duties as needed.
- Operate and troubleshoot NM equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or GED; completion of an accredited radiologic or nuclear medicine program.
- Certification in ARRT-N or CNMT and BLS certification required upon hire.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical or NM experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, professional interaction, and adherence to policies.
