About the role
Role Overview: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist provides safe, patient-centered imaging procedures, demonstrating expertise in technical and clinical aspects of nuclear medicine. They perform a variety of diagnostic exams independently, ensuring quality results while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify clinician orders, obtain patient history, and assess contraindications.
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals and follow safety protocols to prevent patient discomfort or deterioration.
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring calibration and infection control standards.
- Prepare patients, explain procedures, and address questions to reduce anxiety, ensuring privacy and dignity.
- Review images for quality, transmit studies to PACS, and document accurately.
- Assist with patient transport, setup, and support staff needs, including restocking and maintaining a clean department.
- Respond to emergencies, participate in training, and uphold regulatory standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or GED; accredited radiologic or related program completion.
- ARRT-N or CNMT certification; BLS certification required.
- Minimum one year of clinical or nuclear medicine experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently, handle pressure, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong technical knowledge, critical thinking, and ability to mentor staff.
Additional Duties: Includes patient transport, equipment maintenance, documentation, and supporting team efforts to ensure high-quality care and compliance with standards.
