Weekends: No weekend work

Call: No call for radiology staff

Relocation assistance is available** Position Overview We are seeking a full-time Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team in Roswell, NM.

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform nuclear medicine procedures, administer radiopharmaceuticals under physician direction, operate and maintain nuclear medicine equipment, perform required quality control and radiation safety procedures, and ensure accurate documentation of patient examinations and radioactive materials.

Experience is preferred, but recent graduate candidates are welcome to be considered .

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure female patients are not pregnant or nursing before applicable procedures.
  • Prepare patients for Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • Position patients and adjust immobilization devices as needed.
  • Maneuver equipment and position it to capture the required images.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients to detect disease under the direction of a physician.
  • Following physician prescriptions, calculate, measure, and record radiation dosages or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed of.
  • Produce computer-generated images by post-processing raw data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and/or annual quality control on:
  • Survey Meter
  • Dose Calibrator
  • Well/Prober Counter
  • NM Gamma Camera
  • PET/CT
  • Complete quality source inventory every six months.
  • Complete daily and weekly area surveys and wipe tests required by state regulations.
  • Complete surveys and wipe tests and record incoming and outgoing radioactive materials, including radiopharmaceuticals, point sources, and new radioactive sources for the department.
  • Maintain radioactive waste, including returned doses, radioactive IV sites, and wipe test strips, by returning materials to the vendor or storing them in appropriate waste bins until they have decayed sufficiently for regular or biohazard disposal.
  • Order radiopharmaceuticals for patients.
  • Complete required quality controls and equipment maintenance.
  • Draw labs for patients as needed.
  • Start IVs for examinations when required and remove them when completed.
  • Document patient care services and examinations in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • File PET Scan Data Acquisition Sheets and verification forms in the EMR.
  • Validate TeleRad orders with appropriate information for reading.
  • Ensure prior images and necessary reports are available for comparison by the contracted Radiologist.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify errors, defects, or other problems.
  • Maintain equipment and follow applicable state and NRC standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Maneuver CT equipment and position it to capture the correct images.

Compensation Compensation is based on experience, with the range established using the latest Department of Workforce Solutions labor statistics.

An additional $2.00 per hour per modality is added to the base salary.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from an accredited program
  • Current New Mexico Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
  • Current CNMT or ARRT(N) certification
  • Experience preferred; recent graduates may be considered
