About the Role
Molex is looking for an experienced
NPD Sourcing Manager
to lead sourcing activities for new product development within our DataCom & Specialty Solutions division in Dongguan.

In this role, you will work closely with global and regional stakeholders across R&D, Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Operations and Procurement. You will help strengthen the competitiveness of new products by driving early supplier involvement, cost optimization, supply risk management and cross-functional collaboration.

The position manages a team of
2–4 NPD Sourcing Engineers
and requires more than
25% travel within China
with occasional international business travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead NPD sourcing activities from early product design through production ramp-up and handover to regional category management teams and manufacturing plants.
  • Partner with design and engineering teams throughout the Product Development Process to deliver competitive sourcing proposals and create business value.
  • Identify, evaluate, select and onboard suppliers for new products.
  • Lead supplier negotiations, contracting and commercial term discussions in line with internal policies and business targets.
  • Drive supply chain risk assessment and mitigation throughout the new product development process.
  • Bring Design-to-X perspectives, including manufacturability, quality, cost and supply chain considerations, into product design decisions.
  • Conduct should-cost analysis and support make-or-buy decisions.
  • Deliver target BOM and CAPEX costs to support business objectives.
  • Deploy category strategies across metals, plastics, electronics, outsourcing and other relevant areas.
  • Improve sourcing processes, cycle time and operational efficiency through collaboration with business units, operations and procurement teams.
  • Develop the capabilities of the NPD sourcing team and critical suppliers.
  • Build strong, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers and external partners.
  • Promote Principle-Based Management culture and support long-term Molex brand development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Business or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in new product development sourcing or engineering.
  • Solid experience in direct procurement and global manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, product development and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional collaboration across business units and geographies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, build accountability and deliver results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluent in both English and Chinese.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline, MBA or another advanced degree.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Sourcing Manager or Senior Sourcing Engineer in the EMS or electronics industry.
  • Previous experience in engineering, finance, project management or business management.
  • Experience in new product development or sourcing for cable assemblies or similarly complex products.
  • Strong supplier network with the ability to identify and onboard external capabilities quickly.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost structures related to cable assembly, molding, stamping, plating, machining, PCBs and assembly.
