Position Summary
The State Pre-College Enrichment Program (S-PREP) is a free academic and college preparation program for 7th–12th grade students in New York City. Its mission is to increase the number of students pursuing careers in healthcare and STEM. The program offers academic enrichment courses, career development workshops, college advisement, and educational field trips.
Program Facilitators provide instructional and classroom support to preceptors, helping ensure courses run smoothly. They assist with grading, classroom management, and student engagement, while also supporting program workshops and events. This role is ideal for individuals seeking mentorship experience and exposure to academic program administration.
Course offerings will include, but may not be limited to Biochemistry, Calculus, Algebra, Chemistry, Brain & Cognitive Science, Geometry, Ready for Pre-Med, Physics, Anatomy, Algebra II/Trig, Biology, Pre-Calculus, College Readiness, Environmental Sci., Computer Science, Ready for Dentistry, Ready for Emergency Med.
Responsibilities
Program Facilitators will report to the SPREP Program Administrators within the Office of Student Diversity, Inclusion, & Belonging. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the preparation of program sessions including classes, special events and other program related activities
- Support preceptors with classroom management and instructional activities and lead class in instructors' absence.
- Assist in preparing program sessions and special events
- Monitor student attendance and participation
- Grade quizzes, exams, and course assignments
- Provide input on student performance evaluations
- Support the execution of the workshop series
- Chaperone field trips, college tours, and conferences as needed
- Attend & support special events (opening/closing ceremonies, workshops)
- Providing recommendations for program improvements and or colleges for students
- Completing administrative/clerical duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications
- Education/training in science or mathematics (required)
- Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills
- Prior teaching/mentoring experience preferred
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Available during the 2026 Summer Program.
