About This Role
Operating a 26-foot box truck for over-the-road transportation is the core of this driving role, focusing on safety, reliability, and adherence to transportation regulations. The driver will primarily operate the truck over a two-week period before returning home, ensuring timely and secure delivery of cargo. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment requiring dedication and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Operate a 26-foot box truck safely and efficiently over long distances, primarily on an over-the-road schedule lasting approximately two weeks before returning home
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and other essential systems
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transportation
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, and delivery documentation as required
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members regarding schedules, delays, or issues encountered during trips
- Ensure cargo is loaded and secured properly to prevent damage during transit
- Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure personal safety and the safety of others on the road
Requirements
- Valid Non-Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a 26-foot box truck
- Proven experience in long-distance trucking or commercial driving preferred
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations, and best practices for over-the-road transportation
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and maintenance checks
- Good communication skills for effective coordination with dispatch and clients
- Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently for extended periods away from home
- 5 years of box truck experience (Required)
- Non-CDL Class C (Required)
- DOT MEDICAL CERTIFICATE (Required)
