About This Role
This contract position is for a Cisco Network Technician to support and modernize critical network infrastructure. The role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise networking equipment at various locations. It offers an excellent opportunity for networking professionals who enjoy hands-on infrastructure work and collaborating with experienced network engineers on impactful technology initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support enterprise edge networking equipment throughout the state
- Deploy and maintain Cisco Catalyst 3650 and 9000 series switches
- Install and support Cisco 1111 and 9000 series routers
- Configure and maintain Cisco wireless access points and wireless controllers
- Assist with Fortinet FortiGate firewall deployments and support
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, routing, switching, and infrastructure-related issues
- Support hardware refresh projects, installations, and decommissioning efforts
- Evaluate network systems and recommend upgrades, patches, and improvements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and standards
- Coordinate multiple ongoing network projects across various agencies
- Work collaboratively with network engineering teams, vendors, and stakeholders
- Participate in occasional after-hours work and overnight travel as required
Requirements
- Intermediate knowledge of networking principles, technologies, and best practices
- Experience with enterprise networking equipment
- Understanding of routing, switching, LAN/WAN technologies, and network troubleshooting
- Experience supporting or installing Cisco networking products
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license
Nice to have:
- CCNA, Network+, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent certifications
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst switching platforms
- Experience with Cisco routing technologies
- Experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments
