About the role

Our client, a technology leader, is seeking a contract Network Security Engineer. This is an onsite role in Cupertino, CA.

Contract duration: 12 months

Experience Required Network Engineer Skills:

  • Network+ and/or CCNA level experiences with VLAN, STP, VTP, ARP, HSRP, TACACS, RADIUS, and basic layer-3 routing.
  • Familiar with Wireshark, and/or tcpdump for packet analysis.
  • Familiar with network monitoring and understanding of SNMPv3, MIBs and OIDs.
  • Basic understanding of layer-4 and firewall/NAT knowledge.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Basic layer-2 troubleshooting and administration of IOS-XE (Cisco), NX-OS (Cisco), and EOS (Arista) switches.
  • Proactively monitor network devices via network monitoring tools, and Splunk syslog logging.
  • Operate and manage Opengear console server for in-band and out-of-band management.
  • Collaborate with other teams for network triage and escalation.
  • Setting up and burn-in of network devices, including switches, routers, firewalls, and out-of-band console server.
  • Perform inventory of physical and logical network devices, assist with quotes for hardware procurement.
