Network Engineer II

About This Role

This Network Engineer II role is part of the Enterprise Networks practice within Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, focusing on architecting, modernizing, and operating network foundations for clients' digital and AI ambitions. The position involves delivering network assessments, strategy, and implementations to enhance agility, resilience, and security while reducing operational costs through automation. Practitioners work across enterprise campus, data center, and cloud-interconnected networks, guiding clients through transformative initiatives, including those driven by AI/ML workloads.

Responsibilities

• Engage with practitioners and professionals across multiple disciplines within Deloitte and client organizations
• Lead and support technical teams to assess, design, and deploy enterprise network solutions across campus, data center, and hybrid cloud environments
• Own delivery outcomes while managing client and stakeholder relationships

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with enterprise networking technologies, including:
  • Layer 2 protocols (ARP, 802.1Q, Spanning Tree)
  • Layer 3 protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Layer 4-7 technologies (TCP, load balancers, firewalls, DNS)
• 2 years of relevant consulting or industry experience, including exposure to enterprise-class systems integration engagements
• Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Nice to have:

• Network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment
• Exposure to spine-leaf data center architectures and network overlays (e.g., VXLAN)
• Familiarity with network security devices (next-generation firewalls, IPS) and their role in network segmentation
• Understanding of connecting enterprise networks to public cloud environments via leased lines or VPN
• Knowledge of core infrastructure protocols (DNS, DHCP, IPAM, SSL/TLS, NTP, HTTP/HTTPS, LDAP, Microsoft AD)
• Experience with network traffic analysis and troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, iperf)
• Exposure to automation and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform, Git)
• Basic familiarity with APIs and structured data/config models (YANG, JSON)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to support client workshops and documentation
