Role Description The Nanny role at What Founders Want is a full-time, on-site position based in Lisbon, providing consistent, high-quality care for children in a founder household. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising children’s activities, preparing nutritious meals and snacks, supporting age-appropriate learning and play, and maintaining a safe, clean environment. The Nanny will plan daily routines, manage school runs and extracurricular schedules, and coordinate playdates and outings as needed. The role also involves light child-related housekeeping, such as tidying play areas, laundering children’s clothes, and organizing their belongings. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with parents, communicate clearly about children’s progress and needs, and offer flexible support that aligns with a busy startup lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in childcare or nanny roles, with a strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• Skills in creating structured daily routines, managing school runs and schedules, and organizing educational and recreational activities.
• Ability to maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment, including basic first aid knowledge and strong safety awareness.
• Comfort with light child-related housekeeping, such as preparing healthy meals, tidying play spaces, and caring for children’s clothing and belongings.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate closely with parents, provide clear updates, and adapt to changing family needs.
• High reliability, discretion, and professionalism, with a calm demeanor in busy or high-pressure situations.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Portuguese or other languages is an advantage.
• Relevant childcare certifications or training and the legal right to work in Portugal; prior experience supporting families in fast-paced or entrepreneurial environments is a plus.
