Currahee Military Museum
Leading the Currahee Military Museum into its next chapter, this hands-on leadership role involves working with people, ensuring smooth operations, and sharing the legacy of Camp Toccoa and Stephens County with a growing audience. The position suits an engaging, proactive, organized, and history-minded individual.
Nice to have:
Housed in Toccoa’s historic train depot, the Currahee Military Museum preserves the story of the more than 17,000 men who trained at the base of Currahee Mountain to become America’s first paratroopers. The collection honors the 501st, 506th, 511th, and 517th Parachute Infantry Regiments, along with other units that trained at Camp Toccoa, and includes the Aldbourne stable that once housed Easy Company of the 506th. Also located in the building is the Toccoa-Stephens County History Museum, which tells the story of Toccoa Stephens County and the local veterans who have served our nation. The museum reports to the Stephens County Historical Society Board of Directors.
