This Multimedia Journalist role focuses on finding and capturing the most impactful moments in the St. Louis region, delivering them to the audience first across multiple platforms. It suits a journalist with a strong instinct for breaking news and a digital-first approach to storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Hunt moments, not soundbites, leading every story with the most memorable moment from the field
• Be the original source, ensuring video, detail, and reporting are credited by others on major stories
• Prioritize audience over linear broadcast, collaborating live with the Digital Content Center to post with urgency across streaming and digital platforms
• Live in the field, actively building, finding, and breaking news rather than attending meetings
• Enterprise, break, and own hard news and breaking news in the St. Louis market
• Build and work sources aggressively for current and future stories
• Shoot, write, and edit compelling, tight, moment-driven stories for broadcast, streaming, and digital
• Go live with confidence and clarity, especially during breaking and unscripted news
• Communicate constantly with producers and the Digital Content Center regarding developments, available content, needs, and next steps

Requirements

• 3+ years working in a TV newsroom as an MMJ/reporter, with demonstrated differentiation
• A reel that opens with impactful moments rather than standups
• Aggressive on breaking news, calm under chaos, and relentless on follow-ups
• Strong photographer instincts: framing, natural sound, and sequencing that tells the story without narration
• Digital-first habits: ability to cut vertical moments, write urgent web alerts, and update them
• Source-builder with a system for cops, courts, community, scanners, and social media
• Team player who collaborates quickly with photographers, producers, anchors, and digital producers
