About This Role
This full-time role is for a Multimedia Journalist who is passionate about journalism, deeply curious about the world, and committed to connecting with the community. The journalist will embrace the news brand, develop meaningful enterprise stories, and bring urgency, creativity, and authenticity to their reporting.
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, write, shoot, edit, and present stories for television and digital platforms
- Cultivate community sources and generate enterprise ideas that align with the ABC17 News brand
- Respond to breaking news with urgency and accuracy
- Adapt to changing newsroom priorities
- Keep viewers informed throughout the day with timely online updates, engaging social media content, and a strong digital presence
- Go beyond the headlines to explain complex issues, ask tough questions, and help viewers understand why the stories covered matter
Requirements
- Strong writing, reporting, storytelling, and editorial judgment skills
- Exceptional live reporting abilities, with the ability to deliver information accurately and confidently under pressure
- A curious, enterprising mindset and a passion for uncovering facts, asking questions, and developing original story ideas
- Strong TV and digital reporting skills, including compelling on-air storytelling, timely online updates, and engaging social media content
- Creativity, authenticity, and a strong desire to connect with the community and build trust with viewers
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, research-driven newsroom and adapt to changing priorities
- Flexibility to take on additional newsroom responsibilities as needed
- Valid driver's license to operate company vehicles
- Successfully pass a drug screening and background check
Nice to have:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Previous newsroom experience
