University of Iowa Health Care department of Material Services is seeking a full-time Motor Vehicle Operator II to properly and safely transport mobile case carts containing surgical instruments back and forth between off-site sterilization location and Medical Center University Campus, University of Iowa Health Care. This position will be scheduled Friday-Tuesday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
Duties to include:
- Loads and unloads case carts.
- Secures carts using nylon to prevent damage.
- Communication of location and delivery status using hospital supplied cell phone both audio and text.
- Drive a straight truck, with air brakes and automatic transmission, with a GVWR of 26,000 lbs. or less.
- Operate a mechanical rear liftgate.
- Operate loading dock doors and dock levelers.
- Services vehicles, both interior and exterior, including cleaning and washing with power equipment, refueling and other minor items of vehicle maintenance as required.
- Performs as a warehouse worker when not driving.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- One year experience driving straight trucks.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, in good standing, equivalent to or greater than an Iowa Class D – Chauffeur Endorsement 2 (and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards).
Desirable Qualifications
- At least 6 months experience working in a warehouse receiving, storing, picking, and shipping supplies.
- At least 6 months experience inputting warehouse transactions into computer-based inventory tracking systems both manually and using scanners.
