Motor Vehicle Operator

Duties

The individual selected for this position will:

• Operate vehicles with a gross weight of approximately 32,000 pounds or less capable of carrying loads weighing up to 4 tons.
• Frequently handle objects weighing 30-50 lbs while loading and unloading cargo and the frequent handling, moving, pushing, and pulling cargo weighing hundreds of pounds.
• Arrange cargo for best support and to prevent shifting.
• Receive instructions from the dispatcher or supervisor as to destination, load to be carried and/or special work to be done.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations and abides by all traffic laws.

Qualifications

SCREEN OUT FACTOR (MANDATORY): Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator, without more than normal supervision.

This is the ability to perform the full range of Motor Vehicle Operator duties associated with more than one trade such as operating a vehicle, carpentry, painting, janitorial, and other trades appropriate to this position without more than normal supervision. Perform these duties on own initiative with only general supervision subject to occasional inspection. Able to troubleshoot and take initiative to solve problems and accomplish work assignments in a safe manner. Knowledge of a variety of technical trade terminology tools, and equipment in more than one area. Possess a strong work ethic, dexterity and able to perform strenuous work as required by the position.

Applicants must possess a Valid Driver's License by the closing date of this announcement. You will be required to show proof of license at the time of appointment.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
