Mortgage Underwriter

About This Role

This role involves underwriting residential mortgage applications and ensuring all submitted documents adhere to internal guidelines. The individual will contribute to making Manulife Bank competitive by providing excellent service and exercising sound financial judgment in granting loans within delegated limits.

Responsibilities

• Review documents submitted by sales partners to identify and decision whether documents adhere to internal guidelines
• Ensure files are properly documented for reporting
• Communicate effectively with sales partners
• Process a high work volume of files with attention to detail
• Manage the underwriting of residential mortgage applications
• Exercise sound financial judgment in granting loans within delegated limits
• Manage files with appropriate communication while working closely with the salesperson associated with the file

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in mortgage underwriting
• Strong attention to details
• Goal-oriented individual motivated to achieve performance goals
• Strong customer service and decision-making skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and handle several tasks simultaneously
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Sound knowledge of Manulife banking systems
• Identify and solve issues requiring a high degree of judgment and recommend solutions
