Mortgage Underwriter

About This Role

This role is an intensive training opportunity to become a master underwriter, learning the intricacies of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines. It suits sharp, analytical minds with an eye for detail and a passion for solving complex puzzles, ready to emerge as a subject matter expert in the mortgage industry.

Responsibilities

• Master the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac rulebooks through a specialized training program
• Analyze loan applications, credit reports, and appraisals to ensure every file tells a clear, compliant story
• Use tools like LexisNexis and MERS to hunt for risks and prevent fraud
• Work directly with broker partners to clear final conditions and help families get into their new homes
• Identify "outside the box" solutions to rework loans and find a path to "Yes" while maintaining quality standards

Requirements

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal)
• Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to learning
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• A positive attitude and a willingness to embrace new challenges
