Mortgage Loan Officer

About This Role

This role focuses on soliciting and originating mortgage, real estate, and other loan products for HomeTrust Bank. The officer counsels borrowers to ensure they select an appropriate loan product, assesses their needs, and makes suitable recommendations. This involves analyzing income and debt, counseling on credit issues, and pre-qualifying borrowers.

Responsibilities

• Originate mortgage loans
• Interview customers and complete detailed loan applications
• Prequalify borrowers using standard underwriting procedures
• Counsel customers on the home buying and financing process
• Develop and maintain a personal loan pipeline
• Work with the Loan Processor to facilitate underwriting and processing phases of loans
• Answer telephone and written inquiries concerning active loans and bank loan offerings
• Cross-sell financial institution products and services as appropriate
• Provide disclosures to borrowers including Truth in Lending and Good Faith Estimates

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of experience as a retail loan originator, processor, sales assistant, or equivalent experience with a proven sales record
• Good basic computer skills
• Must be bondable and possess a valid driver’s license
• Ability to understand and use bank loan policies and procedures to support positive customer interactions
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, staff, and the general public in a positive, problem-solving manner
• Ability to listen to and convey accurately and quickly, detailed information, important instructions, and/or ideas
• Ability to think and act independently within guidelines and limitations of bank policy and assigned personal authority
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products

• Physical activity requiring reaching, sifting, lifting up to 25 lbs., finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking and hearing are required
