About This Role

The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, advising borrowers on suitable loan products, and guiding clients through the entire loan application and approval process. This role suits a professional who can manage client relationships, stay current on lending guidelines, and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities

• Originate residential mortgage loans
• Advise borrowers on suitable loan products

• Meet with prospective borrowers
• Gather and review financial documentation
• Run pre-qualifications
• Submit complete files to processing and underwriting teams
• Maintain regular communication with borrowers, real estate agents, and internal stakeholders
• Ensure a smooth loan experience, address questions, and manage expectations
• Stay current on lending guidelines and market trends
• Build referral relationships
• Adhere to all regulatory and company compliance standards

Requirements

• Experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar mortgage origination role, with a strong understanding of residential lending
• Knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and Mortgage Lending practices, including conventional, government-backed, and specialty loan programs
• Familiarity with basic Underwriting concepts and documentation requirements to prepare complete and accurate loan files
• Strong Customer Service skills with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and support borrowers of diverse backgrounds
• Active or eligible Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license as required by NMLS and applicable state regulations
• Proficiency with loan origination systems and standard office software; ability to learn new technology tools quickly
• Solid analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple files simultaneously
• High ethical standards and commitment to regulatory compliance, including federal, state, and company policies
• High school diploma required
