Mortgage Loan Officer

About This Role

The Mortgage Loan Officer identifies and recommends appropriate financial solutions to meet the mortgage needs of members and borrowers. This position involves completing mortgage loan applications in person and over the phone, as well as evaluating applications received through the company website. The role focuses on tailoring services to individual borrower needs and guiding them through the entire process to closing.

Responsibilities

• Meet the commitment to the member to have all loan requests processed and closed within the designated time frame
• Meet with members face-to-face, or communicate via phone or email based on borrower preference, and collect data and documentation as determined by DU and underwriters
• Connect with area real estate professionals and develop a marketing plan to locate potential referral partners and new borrowers
• Continue outreach to develop relationships in an effort to solicit mortgage business
• Evaluate financial and credit situations for applications and determine eligibility
• Provide borrower and realtor with pre-qualification information in order to execute the best possible negotiations
• Prepare the loan file for processing by gathering required documentation and information
• Communicate with borrowers, realtors, and third parties as necessary to keep all parties informed for the duration of the process
• Attend local closings at title closing offices
• Work with branches to increase business in the community by attending department and branch meetings as indicated by management
• Maintain professional presentation while attending community and networking events
• Develop working knowledge of credit union services, policies, procedures, and government regulations concerning mortgage lending
• Contribute to team efforts and perform any other related duties as required or assigned

Requirements

• High school or GED
• 2 years related mortgage experience
