Mobility Coach - Day Hospital/Outpatient Surgery-Full-time (11a-11p)
Responsibilities:
Job Summary: The mobility coach technician will provide assistance to post-operative surgical patients who are in their initial recovery with special focus on total joint replacements. These patients have a variety of needs, but a goal for all patients is safe ambulation. The technician will assist nurses with a variety of tasks such as preparing the rooms, gathering supplies, collaborating with healthcare professionals, ambulating patients, and preparing for a safe discharge.
- Assists clinicians with patient treatment under direct supervision of the appropriate licensed personnel.
- Responsible for cleaning and maintenance of shared equipment such as walkers and gait belts according to hospital policy.
- Ensures adequate supplies and equipment are ready before entering patient room.
- Collaborates with the clinicians to assess patient readiness for mobility.
- Follows Extended Recovery Standard Workflow to prepare the patient for discharge.
- Utilizes appropriate health and safety equipment to protect everyone involved.
- Assists with various patient transfer and gait activities.
- Perform assistive device and brace fitting and provide other patient/family education as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
