About the role

Duties

The primary purpose of this Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer position is to serve as the Senior ART/Mission Support Group Commander at a tenant location, responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities and operations of the Mission Support Group. The incumbent will effectively manage the functions of the Mission Support Group in a manner such that complete and responsive support is provided in all situations to all supported activities.  As such, the incumbent will:

  • Plan, direct, organize, manage a limited number of support programs, including such areas as logistics planning and readiness, security forces, civil engineering, communications, services, and personnel.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities, directing work through subordinate supervisors.
  • Represent senior leadership with a variety of organizations and functional areas of responsibility.  - Accomplish special staff studies and projects resulting from reorganizations, regulatory changes, new technology and mission changes.

Qualifications

You must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 or equivalent qualifying pay band or other pay systems in the Federal Government which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities as shown below required to successfully perform the duties of this position.  Typically this would involve planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling mission support activities and operations in functional areas such as logistics planning and readiness, security forces, civil engineering, communications, services, and personnel.  (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

(1) Knowledge of a variety of mission support functions including, logistics planning and readiness, security forces, civil engineering, communications, services, and personnel.  (2) Knowledge of support mission requirements in all areas of base support.  (3)  Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.  (4) Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise a highly diverse staff and workforce through subordinate supervisors.  (5) Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of several organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
