Microbiologist

About This Role

Working as a Microbiologist and QA Associate, you will join the quality team of a leading regulated manufacturing organization. This role is an excellent opportunity for a Microbiology or Life Science graduate with relevant experience to develop their career, combining hands-on microbiology testing and environmental monitoring with support across the Quality Assurance function.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleanroom and environmental monitoring activities in accordance with approved procedures and schedules
• Carry out microbiological testing including environmental monitoring, product bioburden, water microbiology and related laboratory activities
• Perform LAL/endotoxin testing and associated microbiological assessments
• Conduct passivation monitoring and titrations in line with established procedures
• Ensure samples are collected, tested, documented and reported accurately within required timelines
• Maintain laboratory records and documentation in compliance with GMP and Quality Management System requirements
• Liaise with external laboratories and service providers regarding sample coordination, results and follow-up activities
• Support investigations relating to out-of-specification results, environmental monitoring excursions and microbiological issues
• Support the QA department with daily quality activities and documentation requirements
• Assist with product release activities through review of batch records and quality documentation
• Perform label reviews against approved specifications and procedures
• Coordinate calibration activities with external service providers and maintain associated records
• Support NCRs, CAPAs, deviations and change control processes
• Assist with quality investigations, audits and QMS activities
• Support quality data collection, trending and reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Science or related discipline
• 1-3 years' experience within microbiology, laboratory, quality or a regulated manufacturing environment
• Strong interest in developing a career within Quality Assurance
• Good understanding of microbiological testing, laboratory practices and documentation requirements
• Understanding of GMP principles and Quality Management Systems
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
