Microbiologist

This full-time Microbiologist role at the Johor Bahru facility offers the chance to contribute to the laboratory's microbiological analysis and testing capabilities. Responsibilities

• Conduct microbiological testing and analysis of various samples including food, water, clinical, pharmaceutical, and environmental specimens
• Perform bacterial and fungal identification using conventional and modern microbiological techniques
• Prepare culture media, inoculate cultures, and maintain appropriate laboratory conditions for microbial growth
• Document test results accurately and prepare detailed laboratory reports for clients and stakeholders
• Follow and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance protocols to ensure consistent and reliable results
• Maintain laboratory equipment, including incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, and other microbiological instruments
• Assist in the development and validation of new microbiological testing methods
• Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities including proficiency testing and internal audits
• Communicate findings and recommendations to team members and clients in a clear and professional manner
• Support compliance with relevant laboratory standards and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Science, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 2-3 years of practical experience in a laboratory environment, preferably in food, water, or microbiology
• Proficiency in microbiological testing techniques including culture preparation, staining, microscopy, and identification methods
• Strong knowledge of microbial identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and safety protocols
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive laboratory records
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Familiarity with quality assurance standards and laboratory regulations such as ISO 17025
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
