Medical Transcriptionist III

About This Role

This role involves accurate and timely transcription and appropriate distribution of dictated diagnostic and interpretive oncology reports. It also includes creating and distributing training materials, training new team members, and creating monthly quality indicator reports. The role suits an experienced medical transcriptionist who can work independently and effectively communicate with pathologists and team members.

Responsibilities

• Create and distribute training materials under the Department Manager's approval and train new team members
• Create the department monthly Quality Indicator report for the Department Manager
• Complete the Revised Report for the Department Manager and Quality and other QI reports as needed
• Perform monthly department Quality report check and provide to the Department Manager for review and feedback
• Act as Project Coordinator for the department
• Create and monitor all summaries for the department
• Train Transcriptionist II on the summary process
• Transcribe and QA dictated diagnostic/interpretive oncology reports
• Create and type corrected, addended, and amended reports accurately
• Complete reports with maintenance of at least 98-100% accuracy
• Complete reports in a time-efficient manner consistent with the specified required turn-around-time
• Efficiently manage dictation files/voice module software
• Answer department emails with no supervision
• Manage the daily department tickets via the ticketing system with no supervision
• Work independently
• Effectively communicate with pathologists, team members, and manager
• Use excellent computer skills (maneuver through the LIS with ease, advanced Outlook skills, advanced Word and Excel skills), and use Shorthand (word expander program) efficiently
• Create department spreadsheets and training materials as needed
• Follow and maintain basic department workflow and instructions
• Maintain and file flow slides (in-house transcriptionists)
• Perform other duties as required by the Department Manager

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Documented completion of formal medical transcription training or related coursework
• Three to five years minimum experience as a medical transcriptionist

Nice to have:

• Minimum of one year of experience in oncology-specific transcription
