Medical Transcriptionist

About This Role

This short-term contract opportunity is for an experienced Medical Transcriptionist to manually transcribe clinical audio recordings with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring medical terminology and clinical details are captured correctly. All transcription must be completed manually, without AI-assisted or automated transcription tools.

Responsibilities

• Manually transcribe clinical audio recordings verbatim
• Accurately capture medical terminology, abbreviations, medication names, and clinical details
• Meet established accuracy standards and turnaround deadlines
• Flag unclear or inaudible audio rather than guessing
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
• Communicate progress and questions to the designated point of contact
• Submit completed transcripts in the required format and within agreed timelines

Requirements

• Prior experience in medical transcription
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology across clinical specialties
• Excellent listening comprehension, typing skills, and attention to detail
• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient confidentiality practices
• Ability to work independently and start immediately
• Availability for 5–20 hours per week, with approximately 20 hours preferred
• Comfortable completing all transcription manually, without AI or speech-recognition software
