Medical Transcriptionist

About This Role

Transcribing medical dictation into accurate written documents for various healthcare professionals is the core of this full-time role, which involves reviewing audio recordings and ensuring compliance with medical and regulatory standards. This role suits an individual with strong listening and typing skills, contributing to timely and reliable documentation in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Listen to and review audio recordings and dictated reports from healthcare professionals
• Accurately convert audio into written medical documents, such as clinical notes, discharge summaries, and diagnostic reports
• Transcribe medical dictation
• Verify patient and clinical information
• Apply standardized templates
• Ensure documents comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
• Check completed reports for accuracy, consistency, grammar, and medical terminology usage
• Promptly address clarifications or corrections
• Collaborate with clinicians, coders, and administrative staff to support timely, reliable documentation

Requirements

• Strong transcription skills, including experience with transcribing, transcription, and transcription services
• Solid understanding of medical terminology relevant to multiple specialties
• Fast and accurate typing skills with attention to detail and proper formatting
• Prior experience as a Medical Transcriptionist or in a similar clinical documentation role
• Proficiency with transcription software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and basic computer applications
• Excellent listening, comprehension, and written communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow data privacy and security standards
• High level of concentration, time management, and ability to work in a busy hospital environment
• Certificate or diploma in medical transcription or healthcare documentation preferred
• Relevant healthcare or life sciences education is an advantage
