About This Role
This role involves the accurate and timely transcription and distribution of dictated diagnostic and interpretive oncology reports within a cancer testing and diagnostics laboratory. The Medical Transcriptionist will handle various report types, including immunohistochemical, histology, flow cytometry, and FISH reports, ensuring high accuracy and efficient turnaround times.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe and perform quality assurance on dictated diagnostic and interpretive oncology reports
- Complete reports with at least 98% accuracy
- Complete reports in a time-efficient manner consistent with specified turnaround times
- Efficiently manage dictation files and voice modules
- Manage physical transport of all charts and documents as necessary
- Maintain flow slides
- Maintain filing for flow folders for a specified period of time
- Maintain departmental organization for facilitation of workflow
- Effectively communicate with pathologists and laboratory/ancillary personnel using various modalities as necessary to complete required tasks
- Perform additional clerical duties as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Documented completion of formal medical transcription training or related coursework
- 3 years minimum experience as a medical transcriptionist
- Preferably a minimum of 1 year of experience in oncology-specific transcription
