Duties
The duties of the position include:
Physical Effort: The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying waste baskets; frequently pushing carts loaded with waste; and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. Also performs work which involves moderate to heavy physical effort, such as required to move heavy equipment and furniture, i.e., heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, heavy duty floor scrubbers and buffers, couches, beds, etc., and lifting, carrying and/or moving items weighing up to 40-50 pounds.
Working Conditions: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation. Will be exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc., as well as subject to cuts and bruises. Continually exposed to dust, dirt, and disagreeable odors, and is frequently exposed to organic material which may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling.
Work Schedule: (for example, 1st Shift 8:00 am to 4:30 pm)

Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified U.S. citizens)
- Proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Grade Determinations:
Specialized Experience for GS-11 Level: Requires a minimum of one year of post-MSW degree professional social work experience in the field of health care. This experience must have been in a clinical setting and must have demonstrated the potential to perform advanced assignments independently. (A clinical setting is a medical center, clinic - medical or psychiatric, residential treatment center, or any other type of facility where social work participates in a collaborative treatment and is identified with the medical profession.) Experience must have been obtained after earning a Master's Degree in Social Work.

Substituting Education for Experience at the GS-11 Level: To meet the required specialized experience for the GS-11 level, applicant may substitute a doctoral degree in.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Background in ongoing outpatient primary care clinics.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine.
- Experience with academic medical practice in a teaching hospital.
- Experience with Spinal Cord Injury medicine, but training will be provided.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
