About This Role
Medical scribes are essential to an organized and efficient medical practice, supporting dermatologists and plastic surgeons by managing patient records and ensuring smooth clinic workflow. The role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about beauty and skincare, with strong communication skills and an energetic, friendly demeanor.
Responsibilities
- Clean rooms and maintain office hygiene
- Restock and manage inventory to ensure rooms are ready for patient use
- Prepare and assemble medical record documentation/charts for physician(s) utilizing electronic medical record applications
- Update patient history, physical exam, and other pertinent health information in the patient chart
- Prepare and send all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures
- Comply with policies, including those relating to HIPAA, OSHA, and CLIA
- Perform other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned
- Perform under the pressure of frequent interruptions and distractions
- Proofread very detailed materials and monitor work accurately
- Effectively and diplomatically interact with others
- Speak clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information
- Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision
- Maintain equanimity in the face of resistance, indifference or hostility
- Use various computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook email and database software
- Organize and track multiple records and requests and follow through in a timely manner
- Handle confidential material while protecting its strict confidentiality
- Quickly learn dermatology terminology and distinguish different exams and medical diagnoses
- Quickly learn E&M codes and the level of documentation necessary for each billing level
