Medical Scribe

About This Role

This role assists Dr. Kantrowitz by scribing during patient visits and helping to close charts. The position involves identifying patient problems, preparing progress notes, and assisting patients with questions.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient ongoing problems
• For existing patients, identify reason for visit/chief complaint, changes to medication and orders placed
• For new patients, identify reason for visit and any ongoing problems
• Start progress note including initial HPI, laboratory studies and other studies, and ICD/problem list for physician
• Include location, quality, severity, duration, timing, context, precipitating/modifying factors, and associated signs and symptoms in HPI section
• Include any details physician wants to take record in progress note
• Record any findings physician has for review of systems and physical exam
• Prepare and print out any related patient instructions/after visit summary/lab orders, if necessary
• "Pend" progress note for physician to personally review and sign
• Help patient with any questions
• Answer the phone with proper etiquette
• Make addendums to the progress note at the request of the physician, if necessary

Requirements

• High School education
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred but not required
