Medical Screener

About This Role

This night-shift post on the cardiac ward pairs patient care with mentoring new nurses. This truly part-time role involves meeting donors daily to collect high-quality plasma for life-changing medicines. The position requires a commitment to customer service and quality, reporting to the Plasma Center Manager.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, greet, and focus on donors, ensuring their safety and that of the team
• Screen new and repeat donors, taking and recording donor vital signs and finger stick results
• Use the Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation
• Help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company-approved procedures
• Work a variety of shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift
• Will work evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above shoulders and below knees
• Ability to lift up to 5 lbs., and occasional lifting of materials up to 32 lbs. and rarely 50 lbs.
• Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance
• 90% of work tasks require prolonged glove wear due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1)

Important Details

• Schedule: Most shifts last between 4 to 6 hours a day, 3+ days per week; afternoon, evening, and weekend availability may be required
