Medical Records LPN

About This Role

This Medical Records LPN role involves creating and maintaining resident medical records in compliance with state, federal, and HIPAA regulations. The position also supports the nursing care team during critical staffing levels, providing direct resident care.

Responsibilities

• Create files for new admissions
• Ensure medical records are complete, assembled in standard order, and filed appropriately
• Locate, sign out, and deliver medical records and follow-up to ensure they are returned
• Compile statistical data such as admissions, discharges, deaths, births, and types of treatment given
• Operate a computer to enter and retrieve data, type correspondence, and produce reports
• Restrict access to resident medical records to those staff members with a valid requirement
• Maintain, retain, and archive files in accordance with company policy and State and Federal regulations
• Work closely with the company’s General Counsel and Director of EMR with requested resident records for legal, compliance, POA, and resident requests
• Ensure communication and notification of such requests are provided to the appropriate parties of the company prior to providing such documents or records
• Support nursing care team members by working the floor (i.e., working a med cart, providing direct resident care, wound care, etc.) during critical staffing levels as a member of the IDT team

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Licensed as an RN or LPN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing
• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30 days of hire; must be kept active and current throughout employment

Nice to have:

• Valid CPR teaching certificate
• One year of medical records experience
