Medical Receptionist

About This Role

The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients, both on the phone and in the clinic, playing a crucial role in ensuring a positive patient experience through smooth, welcoming, and efficient visits. This part-time position involves job sharing and requires flexibility to cover sick and annual leave.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and greet patients and assist them with enquiries and appointments via phone, email, and in person
• Answer and respond to telephone enquiries courteously and professionally at all times
• Book appointments for doctors and nurses
• Check and respond to emails from patients and doctors
• Accurately process billings via Medicare, cash, EFTPOS, and direct bill transactions
• Ensure the accurate and confidential storage and retrieval of patient personal and financial information
• Support the day-to-day operations of the clinic, including getting the clinic ready in the morning
• Liaise clearly and effectively between patients and doctors/nurses
• Ensure clinic rooms and reception areas are always clean, organised, and fully stocked

Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills for both patients and team members
• Very strong attention to detail when managing documentation, booking appointments, and filing
• Strong work ethic, integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm to contribute and grow as a team
• Reliable and punctual
• Responsible team player with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Very high level of organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and willingness to help when needed
• Ability to work harmoniously within a team environment
• Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Outlook, and Excel

Nice to have:

• Previous experience in a general practice, medical specialist, or skin clinic environment
• Experience using Best Practice software
