Medical Receptionist

About This Role

The Medical Receptionist is the welcoming face of Som Medical Practice, greeting and checking in patients in a warm, professional manner. This role is a great opportunity to join a dedicated healthcare team where people skills and attention to detail make a real difference every day.

Responsibilities

• Greet and check in patients in a warm, professional manner
• Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using practice management software
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and collect co-pays at time of service
• Maintain and update accurate patient records and demographic information
• Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and communication between patients and clinical staff
• Ensure the front desk and waiting area remain organized and welcoming

Requirements

• Prior experience as a medical receptionist or in a healthcare front office setting preferred
• Familiarity with medical terminology, EHR/EMR systems, and insurance verification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first attitude
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to patient confidentiality (HIPAA)

Important Details

• Schedule: Must be available between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM
• Locations: Must be able to travel to our Niagara Falls office for training for the first 30 days, then transfer to our Lockport office
