Medical Receptionist

About This Role

This patient-facing role is the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, ensuring they feel comfortable and cared for. The Medical Receptionist supports the healthcare team by connecting people to resources, maintaining smooth daily operations, and reflecting a commitment to compassionate, high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming calls promptly
• Take accurate messages and deliver them promptly
• Schedule patient appointments and coordinate transportation
• Verify insurance information, collect payments, and assist with new patient paperwork
• Conduct center tours for prospective patients
• Issue visitor passes, maintain accurate visitor logs, and notify team members of arrivals
• Provide helpful, accurate information to inquiries about the location, hours, and services
• Help with daily administrative tasks, such as booking meeting rooms, typing, organizing and distributing mail, and managing courier packages
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all healthcare compliance guidelines in handling patient information
• Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and always welcoming
• Open and close the center daily

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred; will consider candidates with strong customer service backgrounds in retail, hospitality, or call centers
• Passion for supporting a healthcare mission and continuously improving patient experiences
• Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive attitude
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)

Nice to have:

• Experience working in a value-based care model
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
