Medical Laboratory Technician Senior / SEIU-E

About This Role

This senior medical laboratory technician role involves performing routine and complex laboratory analyses on clinical specimens. The individual will assist lab management with the daily operations of the department and contribute to the growth and development of the laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information
• Verify analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and linearity for test methods
• Operate, calibrate, check and maintain instrumentation
• Troubleshoot problems with quality controls and test procedures and take appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information
• Communicate with manager, supervisor or co-workers concerning the needs of the laboratory including supplies for efficient laboratory operations
• Serve as a consultant to laboratory personnel and other health care providers, as needed
• Participate in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory
• May collect and process patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and within the expected time frames
• May mentor MT/MLT, phlebotomy, and lab processor students and new employees in laboratory testing following AHN policies and procedures
• Other duties as assigned or requested

Requirements

• Associate's degree in an ASCP eligible program or equivalent
• 3 years of clinical laboratory experience
• Meets ongoing education requirements for certification
• MLT (ASCP) or equivalent
